LinkIQ from Fluke Networks

Fluke Networks LinkIQ™ is their latest copper cable tester designed to verify cable performance up to 10G.

If you’re looking to know how fast the network can run over your copper cabling. To determine if the existing cabling link can support a specific service (such as 1Gig or 10Gig ethernet). And that its connected correctly. Then this tool does just that.

For those familiar with Cable IQ, consider this the updated version with a touch sensitive, colour screen.

Using it’s RJ45 port LinkIQ generates test signals in the same data frame format as the service you are testing for, and checks they get to the other end in a useable state. A speed reading is reported.

Use it to test copper cable links up to 305 m, get a wire-map of the pairs and distance to fault (such as opens, shorts and unterminated). Plus PoE testing up to Class 8 (90W).

LinkIQ includes IP ping and provides nearest switch diagnostics including advertised data rate, switch name, port number and VLAN information.

Additional features include Analog & Digital Toning, Port Blink, 802.1x authentication and Remote Locators. All results are managed via LinkWare PC, Fluke Networks’ reporting software.

There are two models available; a standard unit or a KIT.

• The extra items in the KIT are the Remote IDs #2-7 and an IntelliTone Probe, plus it comes in a slightly larger case.

For those customers with Industrial Ethernet, there is an adapter set available for testing of M12X, M12D and M8D terminated cables.
