The FullControl Networks group of companies provides "best of breed" products and services that help you get more out of your investment in networking. With nearly 20 years experience in the Industry we have gained significant expertise and know how in Network troubleshooting.
It is very easy to spend huge sums of money on LAN and WAN infrastructure and it is also very easy to find yourself in a situation where you don't fully know what's going on. These are typical situations we can help you with, either by providing the tools to assist you to work it out for yourselves, or by asking our Networks Services Team investigate for you.
We spend all our time looking at networks, but we are independent of the various network products, which puts us in a unique position to "position" the various solutions in the market place.
Networking products all offer different strengths and weaknesses and we see our job as to steer you towards the ones that are going to answer your questions. The most common saying in networking is "the network is running slow today" which is not very helpful, but how are you going to answer that problem?
Some of the typical questions raised in the industry are:-
How busy is the network?
Tough question to answer in a modern network due to the role of switches and routers, but we can offer long term trending solutions and real time analysis solutions.
Is the network running slowly?
To answer this you need to have some idea of the network traffic on a good day as well as a bad one. We have products that will baseline network performance.
Why is response time so bad today?
This can lead to either permanent response time monitoring solutions, or sniffer style analysis solutions that look at one part of the network at a time. We have solutions that can audit the network configuration in under 2 minutes to see if there are any issues here to solutions that can tell you the time for packet responses to travel across the network.
Is it the network, the servers or the application?
If you can answer this question, then you can focus your resources in the right areas quickly and ensure your budget is spent in the areas that are going to make the biggest difference. We can offer solutions that can do this on a per server basis and also solutions that can monitor the whole network as well.
We see a number of customers who have bought some sort of analysis solution and expect the answers to "jump" off the page at them when the network runs slowly. If there are 10 possible reasons for a user to complain of slow response, a typical piece of network software might answer 2 or 3 of these questions. The key is to understand which two or three questions it is capable of answering and just as importantly what questions it is not capable of answering.
If you have some packet analysis software, can it tell you how busy your network is? NO, but it can tell you how one small piece of the network is operating. So the next question is, where do you plug it in? These are the sorts of issues we aim to help with. One product cannot do everything, but we will try and help you understand what it can do and how to get the most from it.
